Information report

Introduction
I am a stripey cat. I can be orange or white. I am a tiger.


Appearance and classification
Male tigers can be 2.4 metres tall, 2.5 to 3.9 metres in length and 90 to 310 Kgs.
Female tigers can also be 2.4 metres tall, while their length is 2.0 to 2.8 metres and their weight is
between 65 to 170 Kgs.
This shows that generally females are smaller than male tigers. 
The tigers colors can be white ,orange or gold , obviously with black stripes.
Tigers have big heads, they have a tail which is half the length of its body, they can also
camouflage
in the sun with its orange and gold fur. Tigers are mammals, that means tigers have cubs. 


Habitat
Tigers have a few habitats. They live In Asia, Russia and China.
They make their homes in forest, grasslands, Savannah and swamps.
93% of their homes have disappeared because of human activity, like building cities,
cutting trees etc


Enemies
Tigers use their claws, jaws and legs to protect themselves.
They hold down the enemy with their legs and kill them with their claws and jaws.
Habitat
Adult tigers have no predators, but other predators such as bears, crocodiles,
hyenas, dholes and leopards may kill their cubs. 
Favorite food
Tigers eat a variety of food from small termites to elephant cubs, but their favorite food are
medium sized preys about 20Kgs like moose, deer, pigs, cows, horses, buffaloes and goats


Fascinating facts


Tigers are the largest cat species. The Bengal tiger is the most common tiger.
Tigers live between 20-26 years in the wild.
Tigers are great swimmers and actually like the water. Tigers are carnivores only eat meat. 
Adult tigers generally live alone.
Cubs are born blind and only open their eyes 1-2 weeks after birth.
Cubs start learning to hunt at six months of age but stay with their moms until they are about 18
months old. Tigers are stalk and ambush hunters they lie in wait slowly creeping towards their
prey until they are close enough to pounce.
Tigers communicate using scent markings, visual signals and lots of sounds like roars, growls,
snarls, grunts, moans, mews and hisses. A punch from a Tiger may kill you.
Tigers are nocturnal animals. A group of Tigers are called an ambush or streak.
Tigers can mate with other big cats. Tigers have antiseptic saliva.
Tigers rarely roar and are humble towards their group. Tigers urine smells like buttered popcorn.
Tigers prefer to hunt by ambush. Tigers are solitary creatures. Tigers have a diverse diet.
Tigers can imitate the call of other animals. Tigers do not normally view humans as a prey. 
Tigers cannot purr.

    You have done some great research about tigers for your information report. Isn't it sad that human actions like cutting down the tiger habitat, could possibly lead to tigers being extremely endangered or worse, extinct one day. I remember when we visited Orana Park last year with Paiaka Hub, and being fascinated watching the tiger there.
